Celebrate Member Milestones with New Celebration Effects

Sometimes it’s the smallest moments that create the biggest emotional connection.

A quick congratulations after finishing a course. A burst of celebration after publishing a first community post. A subtle moment of recognition after making a purchase.

These moments may only last a few seconds, but they reinforce progress, encourage participation, and make digital experiences feel more human.

That’s why we’re excited to introduce Celebration Effects, a new feature designed to make your courses and communities feel more rewarding, engaging, and human.

The effects are intentionally simple, fast, and unobtrusive. Just enough to create a positive moment without interrupting the experience.

Celebrations can currently be triggered for four key milestone moments:

• Course completed - When a member completes a course, a celebratory effect can play on the completion screen.

• Purchase completed - Celebrations can appear on the checkout thank you page after a successful purchase. This adds a rewarding moment immediately after becoming a customer and reinforces excitement about the purchase.

• First community post - Publishing a first post is often the hardest step for new community members. Celebrating that first contribution encourages engagement and makes new members feel welcome in the community.

• First comment left - Joining the conversation is another important milestone in a thriving community. The first comment celebration helps acknowledge participation and encourages continued interaction.

Every celebration trigger can be enabled or disabled individually.

You can also choose which animation effect is used for each milestone, allowing you to customise the experience for your audience.

Current effects include:

• Confetti
• Fireworks
• Stars
• Hearts

To keep the experience lightweight and enjoyable, celebrations automatically dismiss after a few seconds and never include sound effects.

We intentionally kept the setup process simple. The goal was to make celebrations easy to activate without overwhelming creators with unnecessary controls or complexity.

To make setup easier, Kourses includes built-in celebration previews directly inside Website Settings.

This lets you instantly preview each assigned effect without leaving the settings page, making it easy to test and fine-tune the experience your members see.

It’s a small usability detail, but one that makes configuring celebrations much faster and more intuitive.

For community milestones, Kourses also supports custom celebration messages.

These messages provide context around the celebration and help create a more personal member experience.

Default messages include:

• “Your first post is live {firstname}, thank you for contributing!”
• “{firstname}, you just joined the conversation!”

Messages can be customised directly inside settings and are limited to 80 characters to keep the experience clean and focused.

One of the biggest challenges with celebration systems is avoiding overuse.

Too many animations quickly become distracting and lose their impact.

That’s why Celebration Effects are intentionally focused on a small number of meaningful milestones rather than trying to trigger effects for everything.

The goal was never to turn the platform into a game. It was to acknowledge meaningful moments in a way that feels positive and motivating.

The result feels rewarding rather than repetitive.

This is version one of the Celebration Effects feature, and we already have ideas for future enhancements.

Possible additions include:

• quiz and assessment celebrations
• membership anniversaries
• additional animation styles
• branded effects

For now, we wanted to focus on introducing a lightweight, polished system that adds a little more energy and personality to your member experience.
